Assisting at NLP Practitioner TrainingAssistants are at the heart of the NLP training programs. They set the tone for the students by welcoming them, by inviting them to learn and develop, and by providing continuity as the various trainers lead us all through the program. If you are interested in being part of the assisting team in 2007, you can use the information below to help you think about how it can fit into your life. Please note that Assistants must already be certified as NLP Practitioners or Master Practitioners. Assistant Training. We have set aside the weekend of January 27-28 plus Saturday, February 10 and Saturday, February 24, for Assistant Training, which will include orientation, coaching skills, assessment skills, and training skills. These training days will be at Gail and Virginia’s home (7635 Tripp Ave, Skokie, Illinois) and we will meet from 9:30-5:00 each day. You must be available to participate in all four of these training days in order to be considered for assisting. Time Commitment: In addition to the four days of training in January, we expect that: -- Assistants will arrive no later than 9:00 am each Practitioner training day to help set up the room, greet participants and make them comfortable, and get briefed by the trainer if necessary. Assistants will also stay a few minutes at the end of each day for a mini-meeting and to help pack up. -- We will have lunch with the trainer one day each weekend. The lunch cost is included in your tuition. -- Many of the Assistants will lead practice groups, either alone or with a partner. — Assistants will help with logistical duties such as taking attendance, dealing with hotel staff, tape recording, accepting and recording tuition payments, and monitoring room temperature. Personal Commitment: We think of Assistants like an airline cabin crew, all hospitality on the surface, but underneath you know their job is to save your neck if there's trouble. Therefore, we need both the hospitality behaviors and the ability to notice if the plane is in trouble and take appropriate action. We expect: -- Protecting students from harm. -- Feeling free to call for more (or different) assistance from trainers, coordinators, or other assistants in sticky situations. -- Paying attention to students' states. -- Respect for people's learning processes, so that they can be enhanced. -- Ongoing demonstration of the flexibility and other communication skills of an NLP Practitioner. We feel that the assistant program offers a sharing of work, energy, and learning for all of us. For the Assistants, we waive Practitioner tuition and instead charge a $350 fee to cover the cash expenses of the program for lunches, training materials, and other costs. If you will have another member of your family, household, or business in the Practitioner class, we will waive the $350 fee for the Assistant Training, and your family or business partner gets to take the $100 Team Discount on Practitioner Training. We anticipate you will enjoy great rewards in terms of integrating your Practitioner skills and refining them behaviorally, as well as the satisfaction of sharing your learning with others. If you are interested in this opportunity to both learn and to help others, please talk to Virginia or Gail. We plan to have the team selected by early December. Please plan to pay a $100 deposit at that time. The remaining tuition may be paid in installments during the practitioner training. Please call us at (847) 677-7950 with your questions and to let us know that you are interested! Or email us. You can print out the Assisting Application and mail or fax it in. We have to receive it by December 1 to consider you for the next Practitioner class. |
